For the thirteenth edition of DesignMiami/ Basel , Galerie Patrick Seguin will present a selection of remarkable pieces of furniture by Jean Prouvé , Pierre Jeanneret and Jean Royère , as well as elements of architecture by Jean Prouvé and Le Corbusier .
A beautiful Jean Prouvé table created for the Solvay factory in 1942 will be on display at the gallery’s booth.
The gallery will also exhibit a rare pair of low chairs, called the “Armless Easy Chairs”, and a sofa by Pierre Jeanneret from the famous city of Chandigarh, India.
A distinguished showcasing of Jean Royere’s works of furniture and light fixtures arranged on their own will illuminate a separate corner of the booth.

Among the elements of architecture, the gallery will present the exceptional sliding door from the Pavillon du Centenaire de l’Aluminium. Already well-known for his work in prefabrication, Jean Prouvé was called to design a building that would accentuate aluminum’s rich and innovative qualities at a time when it was still a relatively unknown material. To fulfill the commission, Prouvé created a structure that was astonishingly light for its immense size. Composed of glass and aluminum, the Pavillon was assembled on the banks of the river Seine in Paris in 1954 and then was reinstalled in the northern city of Lille in 1956, where it would stay until 1998.
The gallery will also participate in Design at Large with a harmony of different facade panels by Jean Prouvé spanning multiple decades, selected in organization with curator François Halard’s vision of calling to mind the questions pertaining to the relationship between design and time.

From Sunday June 3 rd, Patrick McKillen and Patrick Seguin are happy to present at Château La Coste a special installation.

In 2015, Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners adapted a Jean Prouvé 6×6 Demountable House, 1944, designed for the victims of World War II in the Lorraine region. While preserving the integrity of the original structure, Richard Rogers and his team have added electricity, hot water, kitchen and bathroom. These new elements are flexible and demountable, in keeping with the spirit of Prouvé’s ideas. This project gives new life to the Prouvé demountable house in rendering it completely autonomous and creating an archetype of the ideal nomadic home.

Jean Prouvé is widely recognised as one of the defining architects and designers of the 20th century, but for Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers he played a pivotal role in their careers. As president of the jury of the Centre Pompidou project, Prouvé was instrumental in giving Piano and Rogers their first major project, a project which has become an icon of architecture worldwide.

At Château La Coste, there is an opportunity to visit the Rogers – Prouvé house exhibited inside the pavillion designed by Renzo Piano.

In homage to the city of London, the gallery has decided to present works by prominent British artists Frank Auerbach, Francis Bacon and Lucian Freud that stand apart from any contemporary art movements.
In an era principally championing abstraction, each of these artists shared a passionate commitment to scrutinising life and to showing the essence of what they saw.
The different paintings, selected with Ivor Braka, highlight the emphasis on the possibilities of what paint can do to approximate reality and a belief in the power of oil paint shared by all three artists at a time when conceptual art was to the fore.

Jean Prouvé is recognized as one of the twentieth century’s pioneers in innovative production of furniture and architecture.

This new 764-page publication that is both didactic and thorough presents his body of work in detail,
featuring both his furniture and his architecture. The two volumes comprise texts, interviews and historical information illustrated with contemporary images, previously unseen plans and numerous archival photographs.

The publication presents an overall view of the constructor and his avant-garde and humanist spirit.

From December 5th through 10th for DesignMiami/ Galerie Patrick Seguin has chosen to create an ensemble uniting the works of four important mid-twentieth century designers: Jean Prouvé, Pierre Jeanneret, Le Corbusier and Jean Royère.
The selection includes, as shown, the Pierre Jeanneret Pigeonhole Desk (ca. 1957), the Jean Prouvé TS 11 Table (1947), the Jean Prouvé Antony chair (1955), the Le Corbusier wall lamp (1956), the Jean Prouvé low Table GB 21 (ca. 1950), the Jean Royère Tour Eiffel console (1960), among other pieces.

Today the oeuvre of French architect and designer Jean Prouvé is considered essential to the history of twentieth century design. Prouvé’s furniture designs were determined by the interior spaces the pieces would inhabit, and were developed in tandem with Modernist principles of the “art of living” and “harmonious habitat” that were so characteristic of the time. This exquisitely produced and comprehensive volume, put together by Paris’ Galerie Patrick Seguin, is a new and enriched version of the original monograph published in 2007 to fill a hole in the previously existing scholarship, most of which focused on Prouvé’s architecture. It includes a collection of interviews with collectors and design professionals, a detailed biography of Prouvé by his daughter, Catherine Prouvé, and essays by design historian Raymond Guidot and architecture historian Catherine Coley.
The new Jean Prouvé monograph will be more extensive (750 pages) than the first version. It will have a similar format with newly designed graphics as well as a new cover.

Since its opening in October 2015, Galerie Patrick Seguin London has staged exhibitions highlighting important 20th century French works of design and architecture. Art & Industrie continues in this tradition, while seamlessly integrating iconic pieces of furniture and architectural elements by Jean Prouvé with works of contemporary art by British artist Adam McEwen. The combination of these realms illustrates the increasingly blurred lines between them and the dynamic synergy that is created when they come together. Among the design pieces the Métropole no. 305 Chair (ca. 1950), the Flavigny no. 504 Table (ca. 1951), and the Porthole Panel (ca. 1951) by Jean Prouvé, will be presented.

Following the success of the exhibition “Jean Prouvé Architecture”, Galerie Patrick Seguin London is pleased to announce its first exhibition of 2017, which will open on Friday, January 27th.
For the first time at the London gallery, since its opening in October 2015, we will be presenting a group show of pieces by Jean Prouvé, Charlotte Perriand, Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Jean Royère.
Alongside this beautiful furniture collection, we will also be displaying photography by German artist Thomas Grünfeld.
